Volunteering for the AID & Comfort Gala
Volunteers are the most important asset of Southwest CARE Center's AID & Comfort Gala. The proceeds from the Gala support clients of Southwest CARE Center who cannot afford medical bills, insurance and medication. By volunteering, you help to keep our overhead low, allowing the money brought in from the Gala to go directly to client services.
Being a volunteer for the Gala is an opportunity to be creative, imaginative and work as part of a dedicated team. Some of the committees that volunteers serve on for the Gala include:
- Auction: solicit, collect, display and sell artwork and gift items in our silent and live auctions, provide security during the night to keep all items safe
- Decorations: design, purchase needed materials, create, install and remove Gala decorations
- Food & Beverage: assist the featured chef in creating a menu, solicit donations for the ingredients from purveyors
- Cash room: receive and account for money during the Gala
- Entertainment: arrange and coordinate the Gala music, emcees and deejays
- Lobby hosts and hostesses: direct the flow of traffic during the evening, showing guests which way to go to find different activities
- Advertising sales: sell very affordable advertising to local businesses for the Gala program
