United Artists Theater at the DeVargas Mall in Santa Fe will continue to show the film through June 24 and perhaps beyond. It is a fantastic movie and depicts many of the issues the patients of Southwest CARE Center live with.
Set in San Francisco's Mission District, La Mission is a story of redemption imbued with the curative power of Aztec tradition. Che Rivera (Benjamin Bratt) has always had to be tough to survive. He's a powerful man respected throughout the Mission barrio for his masculinity and his strength. At the same time he is a man who is feared for his street-tough ways and his violent temper. A reformed inmate and recovering alcoholic, Che has worked hard to redeem his life and do right by his pride and joy, his son, Jes (Jeremy Ray Valdez). Che's path to redemption is tested, however, when he discovers Jes is gay.
