FREE ANONYMOUS RAPID HIV TESTING
Southwest CARE Center, with the support of the Santa Fe County Public Health Office, is an independent HIV-antibody testing site. Testing is available, by appointment, each Monday evening from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at 649 Harkle Road, Suite E, and is anonymous and free. Southwest CARE Center has upgraded its HIV testing by becoming the first agency in New Mexico to use Trinity Biotech's Uni-Gold Recombigen© HIV Rapid Tests. With this new technology, persons receiving HIV tests can get their results in ten minutes. Pre- and post-test counseling is provided by Certified HIV Prevention Counselors, who are all members of the Center's staff.

The ability to determine a person's HIV status within ten minutes means an end to the two week waiting period normally required for labs to process HIV tests. The rapid test is done with a finger stick and has a 99.7% specificity rate. Like previous HIV tests, the rapid test picks up on anti-bodies to the HIV virus in a person's blood. With trained counselors on site, a person testing positive will be able to immediately begin the process of receiving services provided by Southwest CARE Center: medical, pharmacy, case management and practical support. Please let your friends and acquaintances know about this service. Call (505) 989-8200 (x1001 or press 0), or toll free (888) 320-8200 to schedule an appointment. Our free testing program is made possible with support from the New Mexico Department of Health.
