Southwest CARE Center – Specialty Pharmacy in Santa Fe receives URAC accreditation

Southwest CARE Center (SCC) Pharmacy is co-located with Southwest CARE Center’s Specialty Clinic in Santa Fe. Although the pharmacy staff is committed to serving any patient who walks in their doors, they specialize in serving patients with HIV, Hepatitis C, and folks taking medication for HIV prevention (“PrEP”).

For 25 years, the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) has been the independent leader in promoting health care quality through accreditation, education and measurement. As a URAC-accredited organization, Southwest CARE Center- Specialty Pharmacy in Santa Fe joins a select group of organizations nationwide that have worked to meet rigorous standards for quality and accountability in Pharmacy Quality Management. “We are only the second pharmacy in New Mexico to receive this level of recognition and accreditation,” states SCC Director of Pharmacy Services, Kate Morton.

“Southwest CARE Center should be commended for meeting strict quality standards,” said URAC President and CEO Kylanne Green. “It is critically important for health care organizations to make a commitment to quality and accountability. URAC accreditation is a demonstration of that commitment.”

SCC Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Thomas, states “I certainly see this accomplishment as an acknowledgment of the level of expertise our pharmacy staff possesses and it carries forward SCC’s long-standing reputation as a model of excellence in the specialized care of people living with serious chronic conditions such as HIV and Hepatitis C.”
