A child who hear and see well can learn well. Hearing and vision screenings are simple tests and should be part of regular pediatric health care.
About a quarter of all school-aged children have vision problem and two to three out of every 1,000 children are born with hearing impairments. Left untreated, these impairment can lead to long-lasting consequences. They can negatively impact language and speech development, academic performance, and overall well-being. Access to hearing aids or glasses help ensure a child can develop to its full potential.
Babies should have their first hearing screening no later than 1 month old. Every child should have a hearing and vision test between the age of 2 and 2 1/2 years old. Early detection and intervention always improve outcomes for your child.
