Helping Babies Get The Best Start In Life
Health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment of common childhood illnesses are essential for a child to thrive in life. Southwest Care’s newborn care team provides compassionate routine and special care for newborn babies in a family-centered environment.
The first well-baby exam is usually scheduled within two to three days after a baby is born, or shortly after the mother is discharged from the hospital. 7 routine well-child exams are typically scheduled during first year—at 2 weeks, 1, 2, 4, 6, 9 and 12 months of age.
Well-child exams begin with weighing your child and taking measurements. Every visit involves a complete physical exam, during which we check the child’s head, ears, eyes, mouth, skin, heart, lungs, abdomen, hips, legs, genitals, and other vital information. Your child’s motor skills are also evaluated each time to make sure they develop appropriately.
During the important first few years in the development of a child, our providers always take the time to educate parents about what to expect in your child’s development, and provide guidance regarding safety, nutrition, and exercise.
For urgent care, we offer walk-in and same-day appointments.
